Cake Care

Handling and Transportation
Please ensure that you read the information carefully.  Flower Cakes London cannot be held liable for damaged items caused by incorrect handling or transportation, once the product/s has been handed over to the customer.

  • Pick your cake up from the bottom of the box, not from the sides, to prevent any damage. When you're holding the cake, try to keep it as level as possible and avoid tilting the box.

  • When transporting, it is important to keep it flat and secure. Place the cake in the footwell or boot of your car and drive carefully. The cake MUST NOT be placed on the seat or a passengers lap.

  • Cakes can collapse when exposed to heat, so make sure your vehicle is cool - turn your heating off or your air-con on to prevent the cake from melting.

Storage and Preparation

  • If you're not slicing into your cake straight away, we would advise you to store your cake in the fridge to keep cool and fresh.

  • Don't leave in direct heat or sunlight, the buttercream will melt and your cake will collapse!

  • When you're ready to tuck in, remove the cake from the fridge and allow it to return to room temperature, this may take approximately 1- 2 hours but will depend on the temperature of your room.

  • If you do not allow the cake to return to room temperature, the sponge and buttercream will be hard and the flavours may be dulled.

  • Flowers, toppers, dowels, balloons, balls, figurines and feathers are not edible and should be removed before cutting and serving the cake. All sprinkles are edible.

  • After it is cut, store your cake in an air tight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator and consume within 48 hours.
